Director, Digital Shipbuilding Innovation and Education Lab

Old Dominion University's Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center ( VMASC ) is seeking a twelve-month, non-tenure track, research faculty or research scientist to serve as Director for its Digital Shipbuilding Innovation and Education Laboratory. Eligibility for academic rank as research faculty based on qualifications and experience. In addition to duties as laboratory director, the successful candidate will provide leadership in digital shipbuilding education and workforce development programs within a consortium of academic, not-for-profit, government, and industry organizations. Duties will be performed primarily at Digital Shipbuilding Innovation and Education Lab in the Brooks Crossing facility with additional duties at VMASC as a member of the VMASC research staff.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Five (5) years' leadership and management experience with 2 years' experience in a research laboratory environment. The successful candidate will be well-organized with excellent communication skills. Candidate must be eligible to obtain a US DoD security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Master's Degree in Science, Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Technology, Education, or related field.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in Science, Engineering, Engineering Management, Engineering Technology, Education, or related field and 10 years' leadership and management experience with 5 years' experience in a research laboratory environment and PMP or similar program management certification. A strong track record of workforce development, education, and STEM grant funding within the last 3 years is also preferred.
