Faculty DPT Program


Brief Summary:

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Marist College is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as a member of the foundling principal faculty. The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative environment focused on establishing the region's premier DPT Program. This full-time 12 month position requires curriculum development and teaching, mentoring students in patient care experiences on-campus and in clinical research. Priority will be given to those with physiology, cardiovascular and pulmonary, pediatric or geriatric expertise. Teaching responsibilities will depend on areas of clinical and academic expertise. The faculty will work with the DPT faculty in a new dedicated state-of-the-art DPT facility that includes faculty and support offices, conference rooms, high-tech classrooms, research facilities, on-site suite of clinical simulation labs and a traditional gross anatomy facility supplemented with state of the art virtual cadavers to support the learning experience.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teaching didactic courses related to their area of speciality in the DPT Program
  • Coordinating course development with faculty
  • Advising students and mentoring with doctoral projects
  • Engaging in a scholarly work
  • Providing service to the Program and College


Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a higher education setting and effective communication and collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment. In addition, the following are requirements for the position:

  • Must be a licensed PT in New York at the time of employment
  • Possess an earned doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD DPT or DSc) from an accredited university in a field related to physical therapy.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in clinical or academic setting
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of full time work experience
  • Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
