Adjunct Faculty - General Student Development



Function:

Instruct students and evaluate their progress facilitate students in attaining their educational goals. The College 101 course is built upon learner-centered strategies and outreach efforts to foster student success and a common new student experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

JOB/TASKS/ELEMENTS

Deliver Instruction
1) Conduct assigned classes and/or labs
2) Prepare lessons
3) Provide course syllabus (COL 101 Instructors use a common syllabus format which shall include grading standards, attendance policies, classroom behavioral expectations, and course outline)
4) Utilize learning outcomes assessment and measures to improve learning/instruction

Evaluate Student Progress
1) Keep accurate record of student performance
2) Provide students with timely feedback

Provide Student Assistance
1) Provide Voice-Mail/e-mail communication
2) Give career and academic advice
3) Refer students to appropriate student support services
4) Follow up with students to foster connections
5) Accommodate special needs students

Participate in Departmental/Institutional Routines
1) Participate in program review, instructor meetings, and other efforts to improve course
2) Comply with registration/records procedures
3) Verify student enrollment
4) Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes at the course-level


INSTRUCTOR EXPECTATIONS

a. Students will gain self-awareness and self-confidence
b. Students will demonstrate resourcefulness in navigating the college and take responsibility for their learning.

4) Willing to participate in professional development opportunities to strengthen and a learner-centered approach as well as opportunities to explore the course objectives

7) Utilize a common syllabus
8) Engage in student learning outcome assessment protocols
9) Utilize Course Management Systems for delivery of course materials (Desire to Learn/D2L)

Required Qualifications:

1) Master's degree.
2) Completion of annual COL 101: College Success Training. If you are invited to participate in the COL-101 annual training session you will be contacted by the Counseling department.
