Special Education - Assistant Professor

The Old Dominion University Department of Communication Disorders and Special Education invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Special Education (10 month tenure track, summer teaching possible) to start in Fall, 2018. This program offers undergraduate and graduate endorsements, Master's and Ph.D. degrees, and certificate programs in Autism Spectrum Disorder and Applied Behavior Analysis. Duties will include teaching special education undergraduate and graduate courses face-to-face and online, conducting research, writing grants, providing professional service, and working with schools and other community agencies.

Minimum Qualifications - knowledge, skills, and abilities
Evidence of scholarly productivity; expertise in educational programming for students with disabilities; strong verbal, written, and technology skills.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or training
Earned doctorate in Special Education or related field with exceptional special education experience ( ABD considered if degree is completed by start of employment); expertise in educational programming for students with disabilities; at least 3 years classroom teaching experience in K-12 settings with diverse cultural and ethnic groups, and in settings that serve students with and without disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications - Special licenses, registration or certification

Preferred Qualifications
BCBA certification; record of grant submission; university teaching experience in special education, including online instruction; interdisciplinary collaborative efforts involving public schools, postsecondary institutions, and/or community agencies; and involvement in professional service.
