Building Automation Systems Operator



BUILDING AUTOMATION SYSTEMS OPERATOR, Facilities-Repair and Maintenance (R&M), to monitor, diagnose, and respond to alarms from the campus central fire alarm station, building management systems, and MIT community as part of the critical 24/7 Operations Center. Will coordinate complex response(s) to campus emergencies, e.g., fires, floods, power outages, and HAZMAT spills; utilize a building management system (BMS) to troubleshoot and diagnose responses to multiple environmental systems including air handlers, chillers, boilers, and steam generators; evaluate heating and cooling problems, determine appropriate corrective actions including issuing work orders and dispatching and communicating with field personnel; read and interpret graphics and systems of operation and make system adjustments via the BMS; maintain data integrity of all calls, alarms, and actions using a computerized maintenance management system; operate communications equipment; and handle related duties are needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: minimum of three years' experience in a customer service environment; demonstrated experience handling multiple priorities, organizing work to meet changing priorities, and working efficiently and effectively under pressure and in emergency situations; proven customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills; sense of urgency; attention to detail; ability to handle situations diplomatically and across various levels of the organization; comfort with ambiguity; initiative; excellent problem solving skills; advanced and varied computer skills including proficiency with MS Office and willingness and ability to learn other programs; ability to sit for long periods of time and comfort working alone in a secured office environment; and ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language. Experience in the operation and maintenance of building management systems desired. Experience with Andover-Continuum, Carrier-CCN, or Siemens-Apogee preferred. Familiarity with SAP a plus.Call center and/or dispatching experience preferred. Job #13690-5
