Postdoctoral Associate - Sustainable Materials

Job Description:
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS, Civil and Environmental Engineering, to be responsible for elucidating material science concepts that control the formation, behavior, and failure of sustainable and durable materials for applications in structures, specifically in extreme environments. The focus is on innovative construction materials such as nanocomposites and other nanoengineering approaches to materials design. The project involves close collaboration with experimental researchers working on analysis of the structure and properties and focuses on computational multiscale modeling using molecular dynamics, coarse-graining, and finite element analysis.

Job Requirements:
A Ph.D. in civil engineering, materials science, engineering, or related field; a strong background in atomistic, molecular, and multiscale modeling and simulation; ability to generate and develop analytical models and simulations and conduct research; evidence of unique scholarly or other technical contributions to research projects; excellent communication and writing skills; and ability to work collaboratively with academic team members in related fields. Experience with statistical mechanics preferred, as is experience in materials science and/or engineering mechanics. Job #10044
