Research Support Associate - Anderson Lab



RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE, Koch Institute for Integrated Cancer Research-Anderson Lab, to work on a cross-disciplinary project on single-cell sequencing. The project is in collaboration with the Langer and Sharp labs at Koch Institute and involves developing a microfluidic device with electro-magnetic components that would allow the manipulation of cells and their constituents inside droplets within the microfluidic system. The microfluidic system will be used to isolate and sequence nucleic acid subsets of interest from individual cells. Responsibilities include assisting postdoctoral fellows with ongoing experiments; fabricating and testing microfluidic chip designs; developing an electro-magnetic component to couple with the microfluidic system; analyzing, recording, and organizing data; and managing and ordering supplies.

This is a great opportunity for engineers interested in graduate/medical school who are interested in gaining research experience in an interdisciplinary area combining engineering with basic biology.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: good problem solving skills, excellent organizational and teamwork skills, a demonstrated commitment to producing accurate and high quality work and exceeding quality standards, an awareness of basic safety issues, and the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Experience building electrical circuits and running external circuits with LabVIEW software highly desired, as is experience in microfluidics and photo lithography. A bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical) is strongly preferred. Basic understanding of molecular biology and experience with biological research is also desired. Job #13835-4
