Postdoctoral Associate, Civic Data Design Lab



POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Urban Studies and Planning, to act as lead researcher on a spatial analytics project within the Civic Data Design Lab led by professor Sarah Williams. The project will study possible social and economic behavior impacts of Riyadh's subway system, which is currently under development. Research topics may include the social impact across different subgroups, accessibility measures for transit zones in the city, network effects of transit, and modeling areas of inaccessibility towards creating feeder bus routes.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in urban planning, an engineering discipline, a science discipline, economics, or a closely related field; experience with GIS software (ArcGIS or QGIS); a strong desire for familiarity with geospatial manipulation and analysis libraries; proven statistical and analytical skills; excellent oral and written communications skills; attention to detail; and ability to interact effectively with faculty and staff at all levels. Fluency in analysis using transit data, social media such as Twitter or Instagram, and cell phone data would be desirable; as would spatial analysis, machine learning, statistical modeling, and database management skills. Seek a self-motivated, well-organized individual who has experience and deep interest in technological change and has completed research in the field. Job #13829
