SOFTWARE ENGINEER, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL)-AgeLab, to join a research team that uses machine learning and computer vision techniques to analyze driver behavior associated with automated vehicles. The role is primarily centered on software engineering in support of computer science research activities. Depending on the skillset of the person hired, the role may also involve development and deployment of cutting-edge algorithms on embedded systems. Responsibilities include implementing graphical software tools that utilize computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence algorithms developed by the research team; assisting on the software side of deploying prototypes of artificial intelligence systems and contributing to the hardware development aspect as well; database management tasks such as processing and cleaning raw data stored in flat files, uploading it into a PostgreSQL database, writing robust scripts and SQL queries to access the data, and building graphical tools to perform these tasks; collaborating on software projects with other software engineers and researchers., including code review, testing, debugging, and collaborative software specification development and architecture design; and other duties as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or related field; at least three years' experience programming in Python; at least two years' experience with C++ or the ability and willingness to quickly learn a new language; at least two years' experience developing code that processes and organizes data stored in a relational database (PostgreSQL or MySQL); extensive experience working in the Linux environment; and experience with and willingness to work as part of an engineering team.
