Postdoctoral Associate, Synthetic Biology Center

POSTDOCTORAL ASOCIATE, Biological Engineering (BE)-Synthetic Biology Center, to support faculty for an existing edX/MIT course, Principles of Synthetic Biology (PoSB). Will support faculty by managing and developing content for one or more existing edX/MITx courses, sustaining the course(s) across the semester; help plan and coordinate the priorities and tasks necessary to meet deadlines as set by the overall plan and for the successful production of the online course offering; actively participate in education and outreach programs at the center; and attend regular MITx staff meetings and have a dual reporting relationship with the Synthetic Biology Center within BE and the Office of Digital Learning. As an MITx participant, will benefit from additional mentorship from the Office of Digital Learning by participating in the MITx Fellows Community of Practice and by collaborating with peers to identify and promote best practices for online course development, helping to strengthen the MITx offerings. Will also have open access to MITx classes and privileged access to MIT leaders. Will work under the guidance of the PoSB course faculty.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in synthetic biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, or related field; a minimum of one year of teaching experience, including online courses; domain-specific knowledge related to synthetic biology course material; good time management skills and experience working in a project setting with firm deadlines; strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, computer, and communication skills; and the ability to work independently. This is a temporary, one-year appointment with possibility of renewal. Some local and domestic travel and night and weekend work may be required.
