Electrical Engineer

Working at MIT offers opportunities, an environment, a culture - and benefits - that just aren't found together anywhere else. If you're curious, motivated, want to be part of a unique community, and help shape the future - then take a look at this opportunity.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, Kavli Institute for Astrophysics and Space Research (MKI), to support laboratory development and testing of advanced sensor systems for ground- and space-based astronomy. This will require the design, fabrication, and test of analog processing and digital data acquisition electronics for low-noise CCD and active-pixel sensors. Since the nature of these detectors requires operating at noise levels of less than 10 electrons rms, a demonstrated competence in the use of tools for circuit design and simulation is required. Will work with a small team of scientists and engineers to characterize and understand sensor performance and develop innovative circuit architectures that can be used to advance the state-of-the-art in spaceflight instrumentation.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a BSEE; familiarity with modern analog design and simulation tools; at least five years' experience in laboratory electronics development; and experience with low-noise detector test systems. Digital design experience and knowledge of higher level programming languages for data manipulation would be a plus. Direct experience developing electronics for scientific space instruments would be a significant advantage. Job #12650

The position requires either U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
