Principal Software Engineer



PRINCIPAL SOFTWARE ENGINEER, edX (2 openings), to contribute to edX's Open Source learning platform. Will work on the Open Ended Evaluation Team, whose primary mission is to build scalable mechanisms to grade short answer and essay questions. Typically these solutions manifest in multiple forms such as sophisticated AI grading and peer, instructor and self-assessments. Responsibilities include designing, developing, deploying, and supporting scalable software systems; understanding and leveraging key aspects of building operationally viable solutions; and supporting the open source community.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: a B.S. in computer science or related area; real-world experience with Python or other dynamic development language; ability to code front to back, including with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Django, and MySQL; demonstrated skill in building service-oriented architectures; test driven development (TDD) experience; experience contributing to or being a consumer of Open Source Frameworks; experience working in an agile development environment; and a commitment to documenting best practices so the code can be consumed in an open source environment. An AI background would be a plus. Job #11901-Q
