Postdoctoral Associate, Human Mobility and Networks Lab

Job Description:
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, URBAN COMPUTING AND HUMAN MOBILITY, Civil and Environmental Engineering-Human Mobility and Networks Lab (HUMNET), to assume a position in the predictive modeling of urban organization and human mobility. HUMNET analyzes cities as complex systems and seeks to use this knowledge to help design sustainable systems with the goal of producing knowledge that informs mobility applications via information and communication technologies. Will join the open research projects of the lab, analyzing and integrating big datasets created by human activity, census data, and digital maps; participate in research projects with the lab's industrial partners; present research results at international workshops and conferences and project meetings; and coauthor articles for publication in leading peer-reviewed journals and top conferences.

Job Requirements:
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in physics, applied mathematics, computer science, or transportation engineering; experience handling large-scale data sets and complex systems modeling and analysis; strong C++, MATLAB, and Python skills; and knowledge of or eagerness to learn GIS, SQL, JavaScript, D3, and any relevant technology required for urban computing. Experience in human mobility modeling/analysis, network science, and statistical physics with interests toward cities and transportation a strong plus. Must have a solid publication record in one of these three areas: complex systems and network science, applied computer science, or transportation. Job #11957
