Position Summary:
Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Systems Software Research Group (http://www.ssrg.ece.vt.edu/) at Virginia Tech. The position involves
developing scalable operating system (OS) architectures for emerging multicore hardware as well as high performance distributed clusters, and concomitant OS components including those for paging, scheduling, file system, interrupts, memory, and synchronization. Additionally, the position involves developing compiler, run-time, and language support for emerging heterogeneous multicore architectures, in particular those with heterogeneous instruction sets (e.g., Xeon/Xeon-Phi, ARM /x86), from node-scale to rack-scale. The position involves developing techniques and mechanisms, and contributing to open-source (e.g., LLVM , GCC ) and experimental projects (e.g., Popcorn Linux).

Required Qualifications:
MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering is required (BS with multiple years of strong experience can be considered equivalent). Multiple years of work experience on system software infrastructures such as Linux OS kernel, KVM , Xen, LLVM , and GCC is required.
