FAMILY MEDICINE - - GERIATRIC DIVISION DIRECTOR (FACULTY)

Job Description: Fixed-term or tenure track faculty position (at the title or rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) for a Board Certified Family Physician or Internal Medicine Physician with additional qualifications in Geriatrics for the primary purposes of teaching family medicine residents, geriatric fellows and medical students; and providing care to the geriatric population.

The Geriatric Division director is responsible for the leadership of the geriatric division and geriatric center, as well as the management of faculty, staff, and fellows. They are responsible for the management and growth of the geriatric fellowship, the geriatric clinic, the teaching nursing home as well as significant grant projects.

Our geriatric division is actively involved in the teaching of our medical students, family medicine residents, and geriatric fellows. Faculty are very active clinically, with responsibilities in the ambulatory geriatric clinic, the Family Medicine Center, inpatient hospice, and two teaching nursing homes.

The Monk Geriatric Center is located in a beautiful new Family Medicine building. The teaching hospital affiliated with Brody School of Medicine is Vidant Medical Center, an 800 bed hospital serving Eastern and Coastal North Carolina.


Minimum Qualifications: MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution

CAQ in Geriatrics

Board Certified Family Medicine Physician or Internal Medicine Physician (American Board of Medical Specialties)

Licensed in North Carolina or license eligible

Collaborative (including interdepartmental) relationship building and maintenance skills

Refined analytical and critical thinking skills

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Qualifying degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions and conferred by the time of hire.
