ASSISTANT DIRECTOR -COLLEGE OF BUSINESS CAREER CENTER

Job Description: The Assistant Director of the College of Business Career Center reports directly to the Office of the Dean of the College of Business and indirectly to the Director of the ECU Career Center. The Assistant Director may be assisted by an additional Assistant Director, a Career Counselor and/or an administrative associate.
The primary responsibility of this position is to lead, develop and deliver comprehensive student career development services including internship, counseling and student employment placement services in support of students' educational, occupational and personal growth.
Directly and in conjunction with the ECU Career Center and its team, the Assistant Director is responsible for:
Operations
Working with the other Assistant Director, manage the daily operations of the COB Career Center including:
-Plan and execute dynamic programs (e.g. career information & development events, employer information events for students, and career fairs) to engage alumni and employer partners to promote career and employment success for students
- Manage GA scheduling, training and participation in the Resume Review Process
- Assist in collecting data to assess program offerings to identify developmental needs and opportunities for growth to align with university and college strategic plan and learning outcomes; facilitate implementing changes as directed
- Utilize career management system(s) and other relevant technologies that support students and employers while documenting ongoing communications
Internships & Cooperative Employment Programs
- Provide leadership for the College's existing internship and co-op program while expanding opportunities for high-quality placements
- Oversee the placement and evaluation of students in internship and co-op positions
- Identify and document existing student internships to accurately reflect student outcomes
- Assist in developing, fostering and maintaining relationships with hiring officials to benefit of students' career development, internship and employment opportunities
- Develop and maintain novel approaches for data collection concerning student internships that are outside the course credit arena
Career Counseling
- Provide leadership and direction in the areas of individual assessment, educational choices/career planning and development, and placement strategies for all College of Business students
- Provide high-value career and job search coaching to students based upon an understanding of current trends in recruiting, career counseling, organizational hiring, and student development
- Collaborate with faculty to provide career readiness and professional development initiatives
- Provide information and guidance concerning COB undergraduate concentrations supported by career assessments and experiential opportunities
- Support students with guidance and information regarding career decision-making, career options, goal setting, career research, the job search process, and applying to graduate/professional school
- Communicate job, internship, and other Career Center opportunities to graduate and undergraduate students; assist students with associated application processes
Other
- Serve on a variety of campus and college committees and groups as requested
-Perform other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a graduate degree (MBA, MS, MA, or PhD), preferably in business or a closely-related field; appropriate disciplines include: personnel, human resources, industrial-organizational psychology, career development, counseling, or related. Demonstrated experience counseling students/clients involving career and employment issues and knowledge of career development issues, employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, occupational, career and employment information sources is required.
