Job Description: Responsibilities include:

-providing preventative medical, clinical, and surgical care to research animals at East Carolina University

-providing technical support to research projects

-consulting and collaborating with investigators

-assisting department chair with facility management and IACUC activities to ensure compliance with federal
regulations and AAALAC International standards

-participating in both academic teaching and investigative staff training.

Fixed term or tenure track position available at the title/rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.


Minimum Qualifications: DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college or its equivalent as defined by the AVMA Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates, experience in laboratory animal medicine, and ability to be licensed in North Carolina.

Experience with IACUC protocol review and a working knowledge of federal regulations and AAALAC accreditation procedures is expected.

Successful completion of a laboratory animal training program, ACLAM board eligibility.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as good organizational and administrative skills, are essential
