DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT FOR THE DIVISION OF STUDENT AFFAIRS

Job Description: The Director will be responsible for fundraising and development activities for the Division of Student Affairs. This person will design strategies that will permit the division to acquire, manage, and distribute funds that will enhance the educational mission of Student Affairs and the University. This person will plan, develop, and implement strategies to acquire or solicit funds from various sources, including grants, public/private foundations, corporate giving programs, individual or small group gifts and bequests, capital campaigns, special projects and other sources. The Director will lead and manage a division-wide operation responsible for building partnerships with alumni and friends to raise funds to support all areas of the division as well as student scholarships. The Director will develop a communications network and implement a set of communications strategies designed to let various constituencies know about the accomplishments of the SA educators and students in key areas and serve as a liaison to select external boards.

The Director will work closely with the Major Gifts Officer who is assigned to the division to identify and solicit prospects at the $25,000 or higher level and will streamline all sponsorship opportunities. The Director will also work with all department directors on fundraising goals and strategies and monitor and manage all fundraising efforts. The Director will coordinate the parents giving program, the faculty/staff campaign for Student Affairs and other annual giving programs. Additionally, the Director will help to plan, implement, and manage certain alumni and special events, such as Family Weekend, Homecoming, and constituent group reunions; and he or she will also help to manage the SA Advancement Council.

The Director reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three years of fundraising experience; excellent oral and written communication skills; a demonstrated interest in the area in which the work will be performed, and the ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule that will include travel and attendance at professional meetings.
