PEDIATRICS (FORENSICS PROVIDER) - FACULTY POSITION

Job Description: The Department of Pediatrics at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (ECU BSOM) in Greenville, NC is seeing a BC/BE Child Abuse Pediatrician to join the faculty of the Division of General Pediatrics.

Child abuse work will be done not only at Maynard Children's Hospital, Vidant Medical Center, but also at the TEDI BEAR Children's Advocacy Center (CAC). The Tedi Bear clinic is within ECU Brody School of Medicine and provides child abuse education, evaluation, prevention, and treatment to eastern North Carolina's children, their families, and their communities.

TEDI BEAR CAC provides services to a 29 county region in rural eastern North Carolina and is an accredited member of the National Children's Alliance and a member of the Children's Advocacy Centers of North Carolina. Consultative forensic services are also provided at Maynard's Children's Hospital, Vidant Medical Center.

TEDI BEAR's multidisciplinary staff includes three part-time pediatricians, one pediatric nurse practitioner, a Director, two mental health therapists, two child life specialists/advocates, two social workers/forensic interviewers, an outreach coordinator, an outreach educator, and clerical support.

As a university based CAC, TEDI BEAR provides education not only to medical students and residents, but also to social work student and child life students, many of whom rotate through TEDI BEAR CAC.

Development of a medical home/evaluation service for children in foster care is a possibility and would depend on interest of the candidate. Child abuse duties would include both inpatient and outpatient evaluations of children, on-call, and teaching.

ECU BSOM is a premier medical school known for training primary care physicians. Vidant Medical Center, a Level 1 Trauma Center, is the teaching hospital for ECU BSOM, and it provides acute, intermediate, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to more than 1.4 million people in 29 counties. Opportunities to collaborate with faculty in other disciplines are available.

The ECU Brody School of Medicine is affiliated with Vidant Medical Center. Vidant Medical Center is the flagship hospital for Vidant Health and serves as the teaching hospital from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University.

Faculty rank and salary will be commensurate with candidate's experience and training. Fixed Term or Tenure Track position available at the assistant professor of associate professor level.


Minimum Qualifications: MD or DO from an appropriately accredited institution.

Board Certified in Pediatrics and board certified/board eligible in Forensic Pediatrics
