DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING AND SPECIAL PROJECTS

Job Description: The Director of Programming and Special Projects is a full-time 12-month position responsible to the Dean. The position serves on the Honors College Leadership Team and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for co-curricular programs, events, and special projects in the college. This position works closely with other members of the leadership team to expand the visibility of the college and create meaningful experiences for students. The Director provides the Dean and Associate Dean with input regarding best practices for integrating co-curricular programming with academic programming.

The Director leads the planning, execution, and assessment of Honors College events including New Student Orientation, EC Scholar Holloman Freshman Retreat, Convocation, EC Scholar Investing in Excellence Celebration, EC Scholar Summit, Senior EC Scholar Impact Trip, Selection Sunday, Preview Monday, Sophomore EC Scholar Impact Trip, Recognition Ceremony for Graduating Seniors, and Living/Learning Activities/Trips.

The Director serves as the liaison with student affairs and with student housing and oversees the Honors College Living Learning Community. The Director convenes and oversees the EC Scholar Roundtable and supports EC Scholar advising. The Director serves as a good steward of college and university resources while providing high quality and meaningful experiences for Honors College students. The Director seeks opportunities for students through special projects and seeks external funding to support the Honors College experiences. The position also collaborates with the Dean and University Advancement to position College events and special projects as a way to promote and advance the Honors College. The Director represents the college at campus and community functions and promotes and develops collaborative relationships with current and prospective partners. Other duties may be assigned as needed by the Dean.


Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree and experience in higher education.
