UNIVERSITY LIBRARY TECHNICIAN - JOURNEY

Job Description: Academic Library Services (ALS) is a branch of Academic Affairs and reports through the Provost and Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs. ALS serves East Carolina University faculty, students, staff and visitors by offering library resources and services to support the research, instruction and service goals of the University.

An Evening Supervisor is needed in the Circulation and Interlibrary Loan Department of Joyner Library (Academic Library Services). Duties include circulating library materials and equipment and processing renewals, registrations, holds, and recalls, supervising student employees, independently interpreting and applying procedures, explaining library procedures to customers, and solving problems and disputes. This position is responsible for making decisions that affect the immediate borrowing privileges of patrons, accepting payments for fines and fees, maintaining computers in the learning commons area and circulating equipment, referring patrons to appropriate personnel to ensure customer satisfaction, and, in the absence of Research & Instructional Services personnel, providing basic research service using the library's website, online catalog, basic internet resources, and library research databases and tools. This position will assist with course reserve processing, maintain faculty/graduate study carrels assignments, compile, monitor and submit departmental circulation statistics monthly, and process Educator Card requests and Borrower Agreement Form.

Normal work schedule is full time, Sunday - Thursday, 5:00 pm - 2:00 am. (Hours will be altered during summer months and university breaks)


Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in library services, office support, or related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

This position is subject to the Career Banding Salary Administration Plan. If candidates are not identified at the Journey level, management may consider candidates at a lower competency level. Pay will be commensurate with applicant's competencies as well as budget, equity, and market considerations.

Salary Grade Equivalent: 61 (for reduction-in-force priority purposes only)
