ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (PRIMARY) AND DEPARTMENT CHAIR/HEAD

Job Description: The College of Allied Health Sciences at East Carolina University invites applications for the position of Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy (full-time, 12-month appointment). The successful candidate will provide leadership for the Physical Therapy Faculty and work to continuously improve the education of Doctor of Physical Therapy students and scholarship in the department. The Physical Therapy Department has strong administrative support, excellent teaching and laboratory facilities, active clinical facilities, and attracts top quality students. The chair of the department reports directly to the Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences and will be asked to advance the college's vision of state and national distinction in professional education, research, and service. The Chair is also responsible for meeting the requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. The candidate will be expected to conduct research and may teach in their area of expertise. The successful candidate will be eligible for appointment at the associate or full professor level.

Minimum Qualifications: - earned academic doctoral degree
- eligible for physical therapy licensure in North Carolina
- meet or exceed East Carolina University requirements for tenure to the associate or full professor status
- minimum of six years of full-time higher education experience, with a minimum of three years of full-time experience in a physical therapist education program
- a record of substantial nationally-recognized scholarly productivity
- evidence of effective leadership characteristics and ability to make sound decisions relative to physical therapy curriculum and professional development, strategic planning, and engaged service opportunities
- strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
