About the Position:
The Capital Programs and Facilities Management Department is committed to planning, developing, and maintaining a safe, sustainable, and high-quality learning and working environment for the campus community. Capital Programs and Facilities Management provides oversight of university resources and assets and is responsible for the development of the University's facilities including land use planning, capital improvement, project development, construction, as well as facilities operations and maintenance including custodial services, landscape services, building trade services, mechanical and electrical, and recycling services. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Groundsworker. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Groundsworker provides general gardening/landscape maintenance services to campus grounds in assigned areas of campus including parking lot landscape maintenance and sport complex. Provides technical landscape support for campus grounds, parking facilities and/or sports complex as assigned. Duties including servicing and dumping outdoor trash receptacles, picking up trash in assigned areas, checking sprinkler heads, risers and lines and repairing if necessary. Keeps all storm drain inlets clear of debris. Mows and edges turfgrass with rotary/reel power mowing equipment, gas powered edgers, and trimmers. Marks and lines fields. Applies chemical and fertilizers as directed and needed. Maintains clean parking lots and parking structures. Services and dumps outdoor trash receptacles. Plants and maintains landscaping including grass, shrubs, trees, and flowers. Other related duties as assigned.





Essential Qualifications:
Previous experience in the care or maintenance of landscaped areas, general grounds maintenance work, or related manual labor. Knowledge of methods/materials used in the maintenance of grass, shrubs, and flowers. Ability to operate small engine powered equipment, large turf equipment, skip loader, tractors and forklift up to 3000lb. capacity. Knowledge of sports turf and sports fields. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and write in English in order to understand and follow verbal instructions and communicate with co-workers and customer's directions, work with customers, and direct the work of others.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Special Working Conditions:
Ability to perform manual labor for an extended period. Working outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions. May be required to work overtime and varied shifts during athletic events season. Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 100 pounds with or without accommodation as needed.
Will carry a Master key.
