ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR ONLINE LIFELONG LEARNING


Position Summary:
The Assistant Director for Online Lifelong Learning will be responsible for providing academic planning support and analysis of student success metrics for the Division of Continuing Studies. The Assistant Director will provide academic planning support for developing new programs and courses along with providing support to project management teams developing degrees, certificates, non-credit and precollege programs.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Master's degree, or other graduate or professional degree, or Bachelor's degree plus substantial experience.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
- At least two years of work experience that provides broad experience with a university's academic mission (e.g., instructional activity, research, or other academic activities)
- Knowledge of and interest in the rapidly changing nature of higher education as relevant to duties
- Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and teamwork skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work independently as well as cooperatively within established and ad hoc teams, ability to advance projects and initiatives
- Aptitude for systems thinking, accuracy and attention to detailed work and ability to integrate to "big picture" thinking
-Experience with adult and non-traditional learner populations in online programs in a higher education setting

Preferred experience:
- Knowledge of the student career cycle and student experience, factors associated with student academic success and progress to degree, and curricular and academic planning.
- Knowledge of curriculum software, project management tools and student information system are plus factors.
- Knowledge of curricular and academic program policy and planning in a university or higher education setting.
- Experience developing proposals for academic programs or courses
- Experience with faculty and staff committees, including formal governance committees
- Experience supporting and advancing enterprise-wide change in large organizations
