SENIOR INTELLECTUAL PROPERY PARALEGAL, Technology Licensing Office (TLO) , to support the management of patent prosecution within the Technology Licensing Office. Will work closely with the intellectual property officer to develop and implement tools, processes, and strategies to support the work of TLO licensing colleagues in order to ensure the appropriate protection of MIT's intellectual assets. Will also have significant input on best practices for patent portfolio management; be responsible for data integrity within the current patent database and assist with the conversion to a custom-developed patent management database; and work closely with colleagues in the TLO with respect to patent matters and correspond with outside counsel on patent filings and case transfers. The position involves interacting with the TLO staff and the MIT community at large.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least five years of administrative assistant experience in a legal/patent environment; solid understanding of the entire patent application and prosecution process, including current knowledge of United State Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) rules and practices; experience working with patent databases and computerized docketing systems such as CPI; self-motivation; excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; ability to assess large quantities of information, anticipate issues, and make effective decisions; proficiency with Microsoft Office and knowledge of database programs (Microsoft Access); ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and perform multiple job responsibilities under pressure; ability to work independently and as part of a team; and exceptional command of the English language. Paralegal certificate with specialty in intellectual property/patents preferred. Job #17315-8
