SENIOR EDITOR, HUMANS AND TECHNOLOGY, MIT Technology Review (MITTR) , to write about the ways in which technology is altering human culture and behavior, from raising children and caring for aging parents to finding work, building community, and managing health. The coverage does not need to be comprehensive but should make MITTR a must-read in the editor's topic area by combining timely stories about major news events with enough original scoops of both information and ideas. Responsibilities include producing a steady flow of stories that effectively cover an assigned beat; producing at least six in-depth features annually for the print magazine or online "cover story" slot; proposing new approaches to and themes of coverage; assigning and editing freelance stories; and representing MITTR at conferences, in the press, and to other audiences/communities.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in journalism or other relevant field; at least six years' journalism experience than includes extensive experience writing about technology news or expertise in a technology field and proven writing skills; ability to distill information from a range of sources; track record of identifying important and relevant stories and turning them into compelling, clear, insightful, well-written, and creative journalism; a desire to become proficient in new journalistic tools and storytelling forms; and a high level of numeracy. Seek someone who thrives on tight deadlines and a fast pace. Experience working with online publishing platforms, in audio and video journalism, and with public speaking and conference moderation preferred; as is a strong social media presence, a facility with data analysis and presentation, and specialist-level knowledge of an assigned beat.
