Senior Editor, Cybersecurity

SENIOR EDITOR, Technology Review , to report on cybersecurity as a member of Technology Review's senior team of writers. Will cut through the misinformation that plagues this beat and break original news; understand and foresee how emerging technologies like 5G, machine learning, and IoT are changing the nature of cybersecurity threats; report on the economic, business, social, political, and geopolitical aspects of cybersecurity; and tell these complex stories in ways that people understand and care about.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED : six years of related experience and the knowledge and contacts that go with it; experience either on the cybersecurity beat or writing about these issues within another beat; and the ability to write about complex subjects in a clear, engaging, jargon-free way, making them accessible and meaningful to a wide audience of tech-savvy readers. Seek well-sourced technology journalist who is curious about new technologies, the people creating them, and the impacts they have; and by how technology shapes and is shaped by its social, political, and economic contexts. Must be able to find issues that truly matter and display a healthy skepticism of over-hyped "breakthroughs." Should care about finding the best way to tell each story; be willing to experiment with varied digital storytelling formats and different ways of connecting to audiences; and see yourself not just as a journalist, but also as a community builder and user-experience designer.
