OUTDOOR RECREATION ADVISOR


Position Summary:
In this dynamic role, the Outdoor Recreation Advisor is part of a team of outdoor educators that is responsible for advising Wisconsin Hoofer Clubs, Outdoor UW programming and operations, Outdoor UW projects and initiatives, and general organizational initiatives within the Wisconsin Union. The position will advise elected/appointed student leaders, paid staff, and contracted/hired technical instructors and coaches in supporting the mission of the clubs.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's Degree required with area of specialization or coursework in outdoor education, recreation management, student personnel, or related field.
Master's Degree preferred with area of specialization, coursework, or assistantship in outdoor education, recreation management, or similar field.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
* 1-3 years of experience in outdoor program administration, coordination, or graduate assistantship
* 1-3 years of experience advising, leading, planning, or instructing a diversity of groups in risk management, trip planning, facilitation, budgeting, and administrative processes
Wilderness First Responder Certified or willingness/ability to obtain
* Demonstrated ability to commit to a work environment that is welcoming and respectful of everyone regardless of identity, background, interest, or ability
* Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage a number of disparate projects and priorities at one time
* Passion and commitment to the field of outdoor education/recreation and its role in a community
*Experience managing or processing contracts

Preferred type of relevant experience:
* Demonstrated experience developmentally supervising or leading a team
* Demonstrated experience teaching clinics, workshops, or trainings
* Demonstrated experience presenting professional reports or presenting at conferences
