Counselor and Clinical Supervisor

FLSA Classification: Exempt
Status: Full-time for the academic year, then 10-12 hrs per week from May 31 through August 1, during the summer break.
Salary: $47,600 - $50,000 per year

Job Summary: This licensed professional counselor coordinates the response to students with mental health crises, providing consultation, resources, assessment and treatment. The position also provides drug and alcohol related outreach, education, assessment, and support. This position supports the daily function and operation of a small university counseling center and includes providing clinical and administrative supervision of intern and practicum counselors in training.

Job Duties:
Crisis Outreach
Respond swiftly to student crisis or potential student crisis situations (i.e. suicide, mental health issues, sexual assault, alcohol or other drug issues, recovery and relapse, personal or family issues, domestic violence, etc).
Provide immediate resources, direction, response, advocacy and referrals.
Hold drop in hours 2 hours a day weekdays to support more acute student needs.
Respond to Student of Concern and Threat Assessment Team referrals by outreaching as assigned by chair(s) of teams. Assess and provide short term counseling as clinically indicated.
Build relationships with faculty, staff, and students as a consultant and resource including as acting member of the Students of Concern and Threat Assessment Teams.

Substance Abuse Prevention
Lead and support the formation and maintenance of a recovery community on campus, working particularly with the Residence Hall staff and Dean of Students.
Provide AOD assessments and required counseling sessions to students referred from judicial processes.

Clinical and Supervisory Responsibilities
Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
Maintain the scope of the Student Counseling Center and oversee screening process and case disposition for supervisees. Approve client intakes in individual supervision.
Each week provide one hour of individual and/or triadic clinical supervision for graduate level interns or practicum trainees.
Provide informal supervision to interns and practicum students as needed.
Provide 2 hrs of group supervision per week in conjunction with other supervisor(s) and Director.
Support supervisee's professional and clinical learning through reviewing, commenting on and signing notes; offering resources to support diagnostic assessment, case conceptualization intervention, treatment planning, and trainee development.
Attend to supervisees holistic context of professional development such as self-care, case-load management, and other areas relevant to the sustainable practice of counseling.
Consult and meet periodically for requisite and ad-hoc meetings with supervisees' academic support professionals.
Supervise Graduate Assistant as assigned.
Communicate with Director regarding development of trainees, and consult with Director with any significant questions regarding supervisee performance and/or client fit.
Carry a small caseload of higher risk students as necessary or requested. Provide case management as needed.
Deliver one group per semester for high risk student issues with intern or practicum student support (DBT skills, Recovery, etc).

Administrative Responsibilities
Contribute to staff meetings, uphold policies and procedures, forms, and respond to needs of center.
Support growth of intern team by contributing to group supervision.
Serve as the on-site manager of Titanium, the center's on-line record system, including updating, overseeing use, and training intern team on use.
Maintain necessary documentation and data collection for program assessment.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Counseling Psychology or Clinical Social Work.
Must currently hold license to practice independently in a clinical counseling discipline in the state of Colorado (LPC or LCSW).
Has experience working with college students and understands and operates from a developmental perspective.
Minimum 2 years of experience with crisis, seriously mentally ill, and/or higher risk clients.
Ability to create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
Breadth of experience working in clinical areas such as personality disorders, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar, and PTSD.
Experience with dual diagnosis and knowledgeable about substance abuse.
Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing which permits effective communication with supervisees, coworkers and collaborators.
Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics of privilege and oppression and the impact these have on equity, access, and opportunity in higher education / the workplace.
Commitment to co-create an inclusive community and actively participate in related professional development, including openness to feedback and ongoing self-examination.

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology.
CAC II certified.
Demonstrated experience providing clinical supervision.
Demonstrated competence in dealing with complex student issues, and programs.
Demonstrated experience and passion for working with marginalized populations.
Demonstrated competence in program planning and communication, written and verbal.
Demonstrated experience with mental health outreach, education, and advocacy.
Experience with Titanium or other electronic record systems.
An understanding and appreciation for the values of Naropa University as well as the capacity to supplement with a rigorous clinical approach.
