Learning Management System Specialist

Reports To: Instructional Designer
Position Type: Full-time, 12 months
Standard Hours: 40 hours/week
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Classification: Support Staff

Summary:
The Learning Management System Specialist maintains Keuka College's learning management system to support students, instructors and the design, and development of teaching and learning applications. This person provides direct support and collaborates with the educational technology and information technology personnel at Keuka College.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Provide faculty and student access, setting up course pages, and maintaining categories and course pages of Moodle for both Adult and Online Education (AOE) and main campus courses.
• Coordinate the Moodle development environment to assure the design team and faculty have an area in which to create new and adapt existing courses for the online or blended environment.
• Collaborate with AOE team and technical support staff to ensure the Moodle site is backed up and expired content is removed regularly.
• Field questions from students and faculty as help desk operator daily during office hours and on-call phone some nights and weekends.
• Apply quality control and assurance to the work developed by the faculty and the Instructional Designers.
• Work collaboratively with instructors and staff to build and maintain support materials in Moodle, such as orientations, resources pages, etc.
• Stay current in Moodle upgrades, add-ons, and plug-in improvements to enhance course development and delivery.
• Assist Instructional Designer in designing, maintaining and developing online and blended courses.
• Prepare correspondence to faculty pertaining to enrollment keys, attendance, and grade book.
• Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
• Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
• Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
• Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
• Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
• Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in information technology, instructional design, or another related field of study or
2 years of progressive, related experience.
2. Experience using a course management system (Moodle preferred) required.
3. Work effectively and collaboratively in team environments in a values-based higher education environment.
4. Working knowledge of web composition and multimedia software packages such as Google Apps for Education and/or Microsoft Office.
5. Literate in HTML, CSS, and/or SQL Query language preferred.
6. Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects with varying priorities.
7. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
8. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
9. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
10. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements:
• Position requires flexible availability between 8AM - 9PM.
• Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
