DIRECTOR OF CLERY ACT COMPLIANCE


Position Summary:
This position works collaboratively with University Administration, Title IX Coordinator, Employee Assistance Program, UW Housing, Dean of Students Office, Univeristy Health Services, UW Police, UW Office of Legal Affairs, UW Athletics, Office of Human Resources, International Academic Programs, University Hospital and Clinics Security as well as other facets of the University that work directly with students.

UW-Madison Police Department employees will support the Department's vision and mission by operating in a fair, unbiased manner which respects the rights and dignity of all individuals. In addition to weekday work, persons in this position will be required to work some weekends and/or after hours in managing some required Clery notifications. Persons in this position must be familiar with Clery reportable crime definitions and basic police procedures used in investigating these crimes.

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's Degree is required. Master's degree or JD preferred. Major and/or course work in Communications, Criminal Justice, Emergency Management, Law, Public Administration, Student Affairs or Higher Education Administration is preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Professional experience with compliance-related, program management-related, or training-related work as part of job duties. Experience working with a higher education institution and working with the Higher Education Act and Clery Act is preferred. The candidate must have the ability to master current Clery Act requirements and ramifications for a major university.

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills are required. Proven experience in working collaboratively and effectively with a variety of constituents is required. Candidate must have proven track record of creating consensus in decision making and collaboration within a team environment. Candidate must strong proven organizational skills and computer skills including familiarity with office software and databases.

The successful candidate will have a track record of exceptional program management with experience in managing complex programs, preferably in higher education, including interpretation of and compliance with federal and state mandates and laws. The candidate will have experience developing and presenting training programs.

Preferred candidates will have formal advanced Clery Act training and familiarity with Titles IV and IX, Drug Free Schools and Communities Act, Sexual Assault Victim?s Bill of Rights, Violence Against Women Act, Wisconsin Executive Order 54, WI Statute 36.11 annual reporting and other related federal and state mandates and laws. Preferred candidates also will have experience in drafting an Annual Security Report and Annual Fire Safety Report and in classifying Clery crime and disciplinary referral cases. Preferred candidates will have knowledge of Uniform Crime Reporting and/or National Incident Based Reporting System. Preferred candidates will have knowledge of FERPA requirements as well.

This position requires a valid driver's license as a condition of employment. This position is considered an essential position for the University Campus.
