WIPAC SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER

Position Summary:
The applications and middleware team at the Wisconsin IceCube Particle Astrophysics Center (WIPAC) helps further the exploration of scientific frontiers by supporting scientists with the software necessary to enable and improve scientific workflows. These workflows require the analysis of a sizeable data set (10PB) and require the use of thousands of CPUs and GPUs in steady state operation. Those resources are distributed around the world and require sophisticated middleware to manage and operate in an efficient way.

We also work directly with our scientists, helping them utilize computing more efficiently and at larger scales. Whether this is helping them submit batch jobs or developing internal monitoring tools, our team assists in the furthering of scientific goals.

Our team seeks a dependable professional to use their technical knowledge to successfully create and maintain quality software products. Interpersonal skills and teamwork are highly valued. In addition to the team at WIPAC, you will work with a diverse international community of researchers in a variety of scientific disciplines to ensure that our computing systems meet the current needs of our scientists as well as adapting to incorporate new analysis techniques as they are discovered.
