WISCONSIN 4-H PROGRAM MANAGER


Position Summary:
The Wisconsin 4-H Program Manager provides educational and programmatic leadership for Wisconsin 4-H. Wisconsin 4-H is an Extension Program providing youth membership experiences for over 30,000 youth across Wisconsin. Wisconsin 4-H is one of two Extension Programs of the Institute for Positive Youth Development and is located within the UW-Madison Division of Extension Department of Youth, Families, and Communities.

The Wisconsin 4-H Program Manager reports directly to the Positive Youth Development Institute Director for management and supervision, hiring and employment authority, employment changes, compensation and benefits, supplies and expense budget, development of a plan of work, and performance reviews. The Wisconsin 4-H Program Manager supervises a team of 4-H state staff members and Assistant Program Managers working to support county and tribal-based colleagues in delivering local and statewide educational programs for youth and volunteers

Degree and Area of Specialization:
Required:
Master's or other graduate degree with academic preparation in a field that relates to the responsibilities of this position such as education, youth development, human ecology, social work, non-profit management, etc.

Preferred:
Doctorate or terminal degree in a discipline relevant to the focus of the Institute for Positive Youth Development.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:
Required Qualifications:
5 or more years of professional experience in leading and managing youth development or education programs, including planning and implementing programs, evaluation, and communicating program impact and value to stakeholders
Experience managing budgets
Two years or more of supervisory experience.
Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Established track-record of building partnerships with diverse groups.
Demonstrated experience effectively interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, gender, disability, sexual orientation and other aspects of human diversity

Preferred Qualifications:
Successful experience obtaining funding through grants, contracts, gifts, and/or revenue generation
Established record of contribution to the youth development field through scholarship, program development, or other leadership roles.
Experience developing organizational partnerships and managing organizational relationships
Experience implementing policy and practices consistent with youth development, youth protection, and volunteer management principles.
Track record of expanding access to programs and resources, particularly for underserved populations.
Experience working in or engaging with Land Grant Institutions and Extension Programs
