Physical Requirements The physical requirements of this position include: a considerable amount of physical work, lifting up to 50 lbs. of supplies and instruments; intermittent physical mobility/activity including walking, standing, sitting, light lifting, pulling or pushing carts, equipment, etc.; ability to bend body downward at the waist; ability to kneel; and exposure to sharps, instruments, equipment, x-ray, blood and body fluids, odors, infections, and some hazardous chemicals.
Shift Primarily Monday through Friday, 11:00am-7:30pm; some on-call and holiday shifts may be required.
Job Summary The Central Services Technician must have working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal The Central Services Technician must have working knowledge of regulatory standards for universal precautions, sterilization methodologies, and regulatory standards for biological monitoring. Responsibilities include: assembling and processing surgical instrument trays; decontaminating used instruments; answering phone calls; responding to OR requests; and maintaining cleanliness of department/workstation.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities The ideal candidate will have basic knowledge of aseptic techniques following the universal standard precaution and knowledge of operating room instrumentation, processing technique, and equipment care. This person must adhere to UK Healthcare policies and must be able to read and follow manufacturer guidelines.

Preferred Education/Experience Central sterile experience and CSPD Certification preferred.
