Associate Production Manager

DEADLINE: OPEN UNTIL FILLED

PAY GRADE: 28E

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

Under general direction of the Production Manager, the Associate Production Manager for the Resident Ensemble Players (REP) works with the Production Manager in the day to day operation of the production department with all tasks including but not limited to scheduling, purchasing, facilities, personnel management, and dissemination of information. The Associate Production Manager will serve as Production Manager on two to three productions a year. As Production Manager, s/he will be responsible that those production are realized on time and on budget and to the artistic satisfaction of the Artistic Director.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serves as a Production Manager for 2 to 3 REP shows per season.
  • Prepares and monitors budget for Productions he/she manages.
  • Monitors production budgets and schedules. Ensures deadlines are met.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with URTA/ Actors' Equity regulations on productions.
  • Acts for the Production Manager in his/her absence assuring that artistic quality and vision are maintained.
  • Assists the Production Manager in running all aspects of the production department.
  • Prepares and updates production calendar. Prepares calendars to be used in season planning.
  • Analyzes sales data from past and current seasons and makes recommendations for future season planning.
  • Serves on the Safety Committee. Edits and updates REP Safety Manual. Enforces safety regulations and ensures that a safe work environment is maintained
  • Acts as a liaison between guest directors, designers and REP staff.
  • Coordinates with Facilities for building maintenance and repairs. Schedules and tracks room usage.
  • Attends all production meetings; runs production meetings for which he/she is the Production Manager.
  • Organizes changes developed during rehearsals.
  • Provides supervision of the loading in and out of productions.
  • Conducts research into industry standards and practices to solve complex production issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Theater or related field plus three years' experience in production management in a professional theater, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master of Fine Arts degree preferred.
  • Proficient computing skills with knowledge and experience with Microsoft software such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to make judgment decisions, solve problems, and develop creative solutions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
