Position Summary:
The Odyssey Project is seeking a Development and Communications Specialist to focus on annual fund development, external communications, and program management. The position works closely with Odyssey Director, Associate Director, Director of Development and Community Partnerships, Odyssey Beyond Bars Director, and other staff. The selected candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of and commitment to fulfilling the Odyssey Project's mission.

Since 2003, the award-winning, multi-generational UW Odyssey Project has empowered families living at the poverty level to overcome adversity and achieve dreams through higher education. Graduates of the program have moved from homelessness to master's degrees, from incarceration to meaningful work in the community.

The Odyssey Project includes four core programs.
(1) Odyssey Course: Each year, 30 low-income adults enroll in a two- semester, six credit UW English course to explore literature, philosophy, history, art, music, and writing; all students receive free tuition, textbooks, and dinner.
(2) Onward Odyssey: Odyssey supports its graduates through advising, tutoring, targeted coursework, and financial resources as they pursue college degrees and other dreams.
(3) Odyssey Junior: Through a weekly literacy and arts enrichment program for ~50 children and grandchildren of Odyssey students each year, Odyssey gets the next generation excited about learning and more hopeful about their futures.
(4) Odyssey Beyond Bars: This new initiative, currently in a pilot phase, is focused on expanding college access to inmates in the Wisconsin prison system.

Additional Information:
This is a two year position, with the possibility of being converted to on-going renewable, depending on need and funding.
