Degree and area of specialization:
Associate degree or higher in electronic drafting or every two years of professional work experience as in electronic drafting or related field equals one year of applicable university-level requirement.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Experience and requirements:
- 2-4 years of professional CAD experience required.

Additional experience and skills preferred:
- Training and/or professional experience with Revit.
- Experience with file and/or data management.
- Experience with data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of administrative structure and functional requirements of facilities in higher education.

Position Summary:
This position provides CAD production services within the Space Management Office at UW-Madison. The Space Management Office, with the Division of Facilities Planning and Management, provides the analytical infrastructure for informed decisions about the University's space utilization and the higher education learning environment. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of the Space Management Office.

The Space Management Office creates and maintains an AutoCAD two-dimensional base level (walls, windows, doors) plan set for every UW-Madison building. The room polylines on these plans are connected to room-level data in UW-Madison's space inventory system. This position supports timely, high quality production and maintenance of the base plans.

Responsibilities include creation and maintenance of base level electronic floor plans from existing CAD and/or Revit files; linking floor plans and room polylines to room data in UW-Madison's space database and entering initial room-level data; assist with collection and maintenance of room-level data; creation and maintenance of PDF floor plans; creation of ad hoc floor plans by request; contributing to file management, process documentation/improvement, and general office administration; and assist with room numbering of new and renovated facilities.

The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining strong team relationships.
