Minimum $65,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree required. Degree preference from computer science, accounting, finance, information science, management information science or related field.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
-Experience working in a business/financial analyst role, preferably in higher education or health care environments. 3+ years required. 5+ years preferred.
-Demonstrated experience to work as a team with diverse customers to identify requirements, deliver solid and sustainable technical solutions requiring strong problem solving skills.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to formally present analytical conclusions to leadership.
-Knowledge and experience with the following tools: Excel, query and visualization tools such as Qlik, Tableau or Power BI and database servers such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL.
-Demonstrated experience working with relational databases.
-Knowledge of database/data warehouse structure and design preferred including star schema and dimensional modelling.
-Understanding of basic accounting concepts such journal entries, accrual accounting and consolidations is preferred.

A minimum of 7 years' experience is required for appointment at the senior level.

Position Summary:
This position is part of the management team for the School of Medicine and Public Health, providing key data and analysis to senior leadership. The position works with units across the school, UW-Madison and UW Health to manage, analyze and report on various business data including financial, human resource and research administration. Tasks may be technical and complex. The position will work both independently and in teams depending on the size of the project. This position may serve as team lead for various projects.

Work will range from ad hoc query development, to large scale data and reporting projects. The school is increasing its use of visualization software and creation of dashboards to monitor the overall performance and effectiveness of school units and programs. This position will hold a key role in those efforts.
