Degree and area of specialization:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major studies in Real Estate, Economics, Business Administration or a related field preferred. An Associate's Degree or every two years of professional work experience in Real Estate or Economics related field equals one year of applicable university-level requirement.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Five years of varied professional real estate experience involving real estate transactions and/or property management. Experience includes, but is not limited to: right of way work, real estate paralegal, real estate title work, commercial brokerage, land surveying, geography or cartography, and negotiation of real estate transactions, and working with legal counsel and municipalities including City and County processes for processing real estate transactions.

License or Certificate:
Real Estate license preferred should be a Wisconsin Sales or Brokers Real Estate License

Position Summary:
Under general direction of the Senior Real Estate Specialist, this position is responsible for assisting in the ongoing management of the university's real estate program. This position provides data collection and analytic services to support real estate management decisions, capital project development, and project implementation. The Space Management Office, within the Division of Facilities Planning and Management, is responsible for collecting, maintaining and analyzing UW-Madison facility utilization information, assigning space, acquiring and disposing of real property resources as required for all academic, research and administrative units on and off campus, and for providing and supporting modern learning spaces with enhanced instructional technology.

The Space Management Office collects and maintains data related to UW-Madison's real property of approximated 10,000 acres. This position ensures the timeliness and accuracy of that data and required documentation.

This position is responsible for assisting the Director and Senior Real Estate Specialist in the completion of real property transactions by completing, managing transactions and property documentation including legal descriptions, deeds, easements, encroachments, surveys, appraisals, right of ways, right of entries, and environmental assessments. This position is responsible for the recording of real estate documents and works closely with the financial specialist to ensure accurate and timely payment of taxes and assessments.

The position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining strong team relationships.
