Postdoctoral Scholar

Postdoctoral Scholar

University of California, San Diego

The Rady School of Management (http://rady.ucsd.edu) at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. The Rady School invites applications for one or more Postdoctoral Scholar positions. Rady Postdoctoral Scholars are expected to interact with existing programs, and candidates are encouraged to contact potential mentors and identify mutual research interests prior to submitting their applications. Research activities at Rady can be explored by viewing profiles of the faculty (https://rady.ucsd.edu/people/faculty/).

The Rady School seeks candidates who have demonstrated that they are strong researchers in the following disciplines: accounting, business analytics, economics/strategy, finance, innovation, technology, and operations, marketing, management, and other mainstream business school disciplines. Applicants should make sure to select their specialization when applying.

Basic Qualifications: Candidates are required to have a PhD degree completed by the beginning of the 2019-20 academic year. The PhD must be completed prior to taking up the appointment (due to UC regulations - at appointment start date, you can have a maximum of 3 years postdoctoral experience). The intention of this program is to expose early career postdocs to new research opportunities and the facilities available at Rady/UCSD.

The Rady School seeks candidates whose scholarly activities/research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education. Preference will be given to candidates with scholarly records, demonstrated teaching experience with graduate students, and experience mentoring PhD students.

The candidate should have the potential to link the theoretical implications of their research to other sub-disciplines, and to interact with colleagues and students across divisions at UC San Diego. Candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching will be expected to teach a range of graduate and/or undergraduate courses and to contribute to the development of conversations around their research and/or teaching discipline (and possibly between other disciplines).

The Postdoc positions are for one to two years, with the possibility of reappointment, and award twelve months of salary plus benefits. The position will require some annual teaching of variable loads. Appointees are eligible for health insurance through UC San Diego. The positions are expected to have a start date of July 1, 2019.

Applicants are asked to submit a detailed vita, a statement of research, a statement of teaching, statement on diversity, and list of 3-5 references via our online submission web site: https://apol-recruit.ucsd.edu/apply/JPF01995.

The application should include: a detailed curriculum vita, a statement of research, a statement of teaching, and a diversity statement summarizing their contribution, or potential for contribution, to diversity and leadership. The diversity statement should summarize past experience in activities that promote diversity and inclusion and/or plans to make future contributions. Further information about the required diversity statement can be found at http://facultyexcellence.ucsd.edu/c2d/index.html.

Review of applications begins January 15, 2019, and continues until position(s) are filled. UCSD is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer with a strong institutional commitment to excellence and diversity (http://diversity.ucsd.edu).
