Storekeeper II - University Bookstore


Salisbury University, a member of the University System of Maryland, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering 62 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. Located on the historic Eastern Shore, SU's beautiful campus is some 30 miles from the Atlantic beaches and 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Storekeeper II in the University Bookstore.

Primary Job Duties: This position is responsible for the accurate receiving of all merchandise and material for the Bookstore, for entering it into the POS system and for preparing it for the sales floor. All packing and shipping, is done through this position, including all of the merchandise returns to publishers/vendors/customers. All functions of inventory control (system adjustments for price, quantities, mark-ups and mark-downs, buy back coordination, etc.) are coordinated with the Director and Managers but executed through this position.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma/GED and two years of related work experience. Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience. Must possess a valid Maryland non-commercial Class C or equivalent driver's license with 5 or less points for moving violations.

Knowledge of receiving and storage procedures and practices. Skilled at operation of a computerized POS system and MicroSoft Office. Ability to organize, track, verify, account for and receive large amounts of inventory. Ability to motivate, train and supervise subordinate staff. Ability to perform basic mathematics; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; to follow directions; to provide guidance and instruction to others; to operate computers and other standard office equipment; to establish and maintain effective work relationships; to perform extensive standing, walking, and climbing; to lift, transport and stock assigned supplies and materials; to wear and work in personal protective equipment. Must also possess the ability to lift up to 70lbs.

Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree preferred.

This is a full-time non-exempt state position with a full benefits package. Starting salary is $14.84 per hour.
