Writer in the Office of the President

Carleton College is seeking a Writer in the Office of the President to serve the written communications needs of the institution’s leader.

The Writer in the Office of the President will craft correspondence, alumni magazine articles, and key constituency communications.   The Writer will draft and complete correspondence for the President, create web content for the President’s Office website, and craft and maintain a social media presence. Exceptional written and oral communications skills are a must.

We are looking for someone who possesses the ability and has the proven experience to listen and translate ideas into written word, to tailor writing style to an audience while projecting the tone and tenor of the author and office.  A successful candidate will be able to write confidently and be willing to edit according to the desires of the President. 

We seek a diligent self-starter with strong organizational skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and inscrutable discretion.  The Writer must demonstrate professionalism and an aptitude for and interest in learning new contexts. Experience in higher education is strongly preferred.

This is a full-time (30 to 40 hours per week), regular, 12 month (0.75 – 1.0 FTE), benefits-eligible position.
