Development Assistant, School of Law

Supervisor: Brian Woods, Associate Dean for Development, Alumni Relations & Strategy

Summary: The Development Assistant is an important member of the Develoment team and provides direct support to the Major Gifts Officer, two Development Officers, and the Assistant Director for Stewardship.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to 3 fundraisers and the stewardship coordinator including daily contact with donors via telephone, email and at events;
  • Manage, organize and assist in all aspects of the fundraising effort including managing data requests, keeping portfolios organized and tracking activity for fundraisers.
  • Assist in the planning of reunion events and young alumni activities offered throughout the year. This includes preparing invitations for print, supervising the mailing of invitations, maintaining registration records.
  • Process all credit card charges and keep an accurate daily record of every transaction. Responsible for submitting all income for events in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all accounting and profit and loss statements for each reunion and all young alumni events.
  • Help to manage and update the alumni database, including research when necessary to confirm data.
  • Help to coordinate stewardship communications including ordering donor lists, drafting emails and letters, and overlooking the printing of invitations and brochures).


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • One to three years experience
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Comfortable liaising with a variety of constituencies
  • Comfortable with technology; proficiency in Excel required
  • Discretion and tact in handling confidential information
  • Comfortable with change
  • Experience planning events is preferred
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends when needed and travel in and around the metro-NYC area
