Degree and area of specialization:
Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a closely related field.. The Ideal candidate will have expertise and extensive experience in experimental research of materials in the area of high temperature corrosion in nuclear reactor environments and other harsh environments including molten salts for use in nuclear reactors and other nuclear energy technologies. Candidate should also have a background in irradiation damage effects in materials, plasma-based materials processing, and manufacturing technologies including: development of novel materials, development of surface treatments, modifications and coatings to enhance component performance.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of 15 years of experience leading an academic research group focused on science and development of materials for use in nuclear technologies. Experience in conducting experimental research with and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students. Success in garnering external financial support for research. Evidence for potential excellence in teaching. Experience working in a collaborative environment and with industrial and national laboratory partners

Candidates will have a distinguished academic record, exceptional potential in establishing a world-class research program, and a commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction and mentoring. Candidates must possess academic credentials to qualify for a tenured faculty appointment at UW-Madison.

Position Summary:
Tenure track faculty position in the area of materials for nuclear energy systems. This is a joint position in the departments of Engineering Physics and Materials Science and Engineering at the rank of full professor.
