Digital Press Operator

PAY GRADE: 26N

DEADLINE: Open until Filled

CONTEXT OF THE JOB:

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for producing complete specialized print projects in compliance with job specifications and in accordance with University of Delaware quality standards and procedures. Coordinates workload schedule to meet customer time frame requirements while achieving optimum productivity. Performs daily/weekly/monthly maintenance on equipment to ensure optimum output. Works closely with other team members to exceed customer expectations

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operate the color and monochrome digital presses in accordance with equipment operating procedures.
  • Interface with the Customer Service Representative, Designer and/or the customer to ensure a complete understanding of the copy order. Receive and output digital files for use in completion of work order.
  • Operate digital presses to produce complete customized jobs.
  • Perform all digital press operator functions as noted on the work order.
  • Prepare proof copy of completed document and obtain Customer Service Representative, Designer and/or customer approval as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of safety requirements of job and equipment.
  • Serve as secondary iGen operator.
  • Problem solving and trouble shoot customer files for production.
  • Assist with Bindery and job packaging as needed.
  • Coordinate with Production Team to produce and prioritize jobs and when necessary reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.
  • Clean and maintain equipment and work area. Inform Supervisor of equipment problems and service calls.
  • Monitor inventory of digital press supplies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED with three years' experience with digital print, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with medium production digital presses.
  • Familiarity with processing digital files as well as a digital color workflow and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to create and provide visual materials and train others.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift, with or without assistance, up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
