Desk Assistant/Mail Clerk - OHRL (OPS)

Job Description
The Desk Assistant works the reception desks and the Mail Clerk works in the mail room in North Lake Village, South Village and West Lake Village.

Required Qualifications
Enrolled as a degree seeking student at Florida Gulf Coast University at the time of hire and throughout the appointment.
Must have a minimum GPA 2.0 and be in good conduct standing with the University.
Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.

• Knowledge of FERPA .
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
• Ability to follow and understand directions.
• Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgement in the interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, and policies.

Physical Demands
Ability to bend, stoop, and lift approximately 15 lbs.
Ability to sit for long periods of time.

Salary Range
Desk Assistant $8.25 per hour/Mail Clerk $9.00 per hour

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties
• Provides administrative support to the Office of Housing and Residence Life.
• Attends and participates in trainings.
• Greets visitors and provides information.
• Routes visitors to appropriate department when necessary.
• Answers phones and routes calls.
• Notifies appropriate parties of University policy violations.
• Assists students with lockouts and complete all lockout records as per the established policies and procedures.
• Sorts and delivers mail/packages.

Other Duties
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
