HR Manager - Lindner College of Business

The Lindner College of Business (LCB) is at an exciting inflection point on the path to preeminence. The College has an established national reputation for excellence in its undergraduate, graduate, and online programs. The LCB Business Affairs Office is seeking to fill the position of HR Manager for LCB's Human Resources function. This position will report to the Business Officer and will play a vital role as the Business Affairs Office fulfills its vision to be a trusted business advisor working collaboratively with our constituents- students, faculty, staff, alumni, the university and the business community.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Direct all personnel management functions in accordance with University policies for faculty, staff and students for LCB, including but not limited to: hiring, reclassifications, employee relations, immigration, leaves of absence/FMLA, and faculty affairs
  • Manage the on-going hiring process for LCB, work closely with academic department heads and supervisors to coordinate and facilitate full-cycle hiring, work authorization and personnel matters
  • Serve as a liaison between LCB, the Provost office, and the Central Human Resources Department regarding Human Resources matters; represent the College and serve on various committees
  • Manage and serve as a liaison for international employees with regards to obtaining H-1B, J1, and OPT work authorization necessary for retention and employment
  • Provide advice and counsel for employees, supervisors and administrators on Human Resource matters, serving as knowledge base and interpreter of UC policies; ensure compliance with University, local, state and federal regulations
  • Work with Units within LCB on a variety of complex strategic issues while maintaining confidentiality; develop policies and procedures to maximize efficiencies
  • Coordinate and monitor compliance with LCB's evaluation process for all personnel
  • Oversee compliance and interpretation with all applicable collective bargaining agreements; collaborate with Dean's Office and Provost Office on faculty records and policy interpretation/management; maintain faculty records to facilitate the Retention, Promotion, and Tenure process (RPT), faculty evaluation process, as well as eligibility for faculty leaves
  • Collaborate with Business Officer for developing and updating the annual hiring plan for LCB; work closely with Business Officer for LCB to monitor and manage LCB's Salary Budget as it related to hiring/promotions/reclassifications/salary adjustments
  • Monitor equity and manage LCB's salary requests, reclassifications and initial hires; compile and interpret data for faculty and staff utilizing various reports and benchmarking data
  • Assist in preparation of LCB's accreditation reports
  • Plan, organize, and complete special projects, reports, and analyses; conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with University policies
  • Provides direct supervision, coaching, direction, and act as a resource to exempt and non-exempt staff in the Business Affairs Office
  • Maintain confidentiality with high level of integrity
  • Responsible for accurate and timely storage of HR-related documents in accordance with UC's Records Retention Schedule
  • Manage and oversee the coordination of timekeeping and approvals for all the LCB Units
  • Coordinate employee training to promote professional development for the college
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of experience. Degree must be in human resources or related field.
  • Experience must include at least one (1) year supervision.


Ideal Qualifications:
  • Experience in Human Resources field with demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented with attention to accuracy
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong management ability
  • Have experience working in a college or university setting
  • Proficient in the use of programs/software such as Successfactors, SAP/UCFlex and HRIS systems
  • Ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads
  • Ability to be a team player and work effectively and collaboratively with LCB faculty and staff
  • Skills in organizing work, defining tasks, prioritizing assignments, and following through on all projects
  • Demonstrated experience in a high level customer service environment
  • Must appreciate and demonstrate a strong background in working with people from diverse backgrounds
