Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

Lock Haven University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, faculty position in its fully accredited masters level Physician Assistant Program at the Harrisburg, PA Campus to begin on or about May 25, 2019.

Essential Duties

This position may require development and teaching of courses online. This position may require travel to other campus locations.

Specific Duties
  • Deliver classroom and small group instruction within a team based modular format.
  • Supervise and complete site visits on second year PA students.
  • Develop learning outcomes for physician assistant students.
  • Develop, implement and administer competency assessments of physician assistant students.
  • Implement and assure clinical educational sites used by the program are in compliance with university and program policies including currency of affiliation agreements, credentialing of preceptors, and site ability to provide patient experiences that lead to the development of program student learning outcomes and competencies.
  • Actively recruit, vet, and acquire affiliation agreements with new clinical sites/preceptors and maintain existing clinical partnerships and training sites.
  • Coordinate clinical placements of second year PA students at all campus locations.
  • Acquire data on the efficacy of didactic and clinical instruction provided to PA students.
  • In concert with other designated program personnel, and appropriate departmental committees, analyze, draw conclusions regarding, and implement educational strategies to foster an environment of continuous quality improvement.
  • Develop, coordinate, and provide teaching support for clinical year PA students.
  • Attend committee, program, and departmental meetings.
  • Assist the program director and department chair in reviewing, planning and analyzing compliance with ARC -PA standards of accreditation.
  • Actively participate in university community and professional service.
  • Engage in academic and professional scholarship activities.

Minimum Qualifications (Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • Masters degree or higher as a physician assistant or in a health related discipline.
  • Must have a current NCCPA certification (or board eligibility in a related field) as well as eligibility to practice within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Must have a valid PA drivers license and reliable transportation.

The successful candidate must be able to communicate well and/or perform well in an interview or teaching demonstration.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years experience in PA clinical practice
  • Experience with developing learning outcomes, defining competencies, and coordinating PA student clinical experiences

Background Clearances

In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 (HB 435), appointment is contingent upon completion of a satisfactory background investigation which includes, but is not limited to, Act 34, Pennsylvania Criminal Record Clearance; Act 151, Child Abuse Clearance; and Act 114, Federal Bureau of Investigations ( FBI ) Criminal Background Checks.

Appointment is provisional for a single 90 day period provided the "Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form" and verification of your application for the three background checks are returned to Deana Hill, Associate VP for Human Resources.

Annual Security Report (Clery Act)

The Lock Haven University's Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report are now available on-line or in paper form by request. Federal law requires these reports to contain policy statements, crime and fire safety statistics for the university. The policy statements address the university's policies, procedures, and programs concerning safety and security, i.e. policies for responding to emergency situations, fire safety procedures and statistics, and sexual offenses, etc. Three years' worth of statistics is included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in on-campus buildings, or off-campus sites property owned or controlled by the university and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to the campus.
