Degree and area of specialization:
PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering or closely related field, with research expertise in quantum systems engineering and demonstrate excellence in research and teaching.

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Candidates will have a distinguished academic record, exceptional potential in establishing a world-class research program, and a commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate instruction and mentoring. Preference is to hire at the Assistant Professor level, although exceptionally well-qualified candidates at the Associate or Full Professor level may be considered. Candidates for Associate or Full Professor must possess academic credentials to qualify for a tenured faculty appointment at UW-Madison.

Position Summary:
This position is part of a campus-wide cluster initiative to expand and broaden expertise in quantum science and engineering at UW-Madison. As part of the initiative there are new position vacancies in the Departments of Physics (PVL 96089), this position in Electrical & Computer Engineering (PVL 96215), and Materials Science & Engineering (96210). It is anticipated that successful candidates will develop strong collaborations with existing quantum research at UW Madison, as well as with other hires under this cluster program, and with external research centers.

The position in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is at the tenure-track level where we seek faculty candidates with expertise in Quantum Systems Engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in topics that include, but are not necessarily limited to, quantum algorithms, quantum system design, quantum circuits, error correction codes, computer-aided design tools, and system software for quantum architectures. The candidate would collaborate campus-wide with ongoing efforts in these and related areas in order to successfully advance the design and architecture of practical future quantum computing systems.
