Position Description:
The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 21 sports at the NCAA Division I level. All sports compete in the Big West Conference except Football (Big Sky Conference), Wrestling and Men's Swimming (PAC-12) and Women's Swimming (MPSF). Women's NCAA Division I sports programs: basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, soccer, softball, cross country, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, swimming and diving, tennis, and golf. Men's NCAA Division I sports programs: football, basketball, baseball, cross country, golf, swimming and diving, tennis, outdoor track and field, soccer, and wrestling.

This is a full time, 12 month appointment, renewable on an annual basis with satisfactory performance. This position will report to the Deputy Director of Athletics. This position will be responsible for assisting all 21 sports at the NCAA Division I level teams will devising, scheduling and supervising appropriate sport specific strength and conditioning programs. Our Head Strength and Conditioning Coach will improve the competitiveness of the varsity athletic teams by implementing and coaching training and injury prevention programs for all varsity sports teams, in turn allowing the sport coaches to focus on sport specific technique and strategy.

1. Work with head coaches to ensure that the specific strength and conditioning needs of each sport are met. Maintain progress records for evaluation of success of the program and report back to each program.

2. Instruct and educate student-athletes in the proper lifting techniques, speed development, plyometrics, flexibility, nutrition, injury rehabilitation and recovery methods.

3. Collaborate with sports medicine staff to coordinate injury rehabilitation and treatment schedules.

4. Administer strength and performance testing, coordinate test date, evaluate and set goals.

5. Ability to adjust coaching style to match the learning style of the individual student-athletes and motivate them to achieve their highest potential.

6. Schedule, coordinate, evaluate and supervise activities of the strength and conditioning interns and volunteers.

7. Manage the weight room, including scheduling, budget management and equipment maintenance.

8. A commitment to excellence and value of education; familiarity and comfort working in an environment with a strong academic commitment.


Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):


Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
-Bachelor's degree in exercise science or related field
-NCAA experience with Strength and Conditioning
Licenses, Certificates, Credentials:
-Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
-Current CPR/AED and first aid certification
-Ability to coach and supervise student-athletes, understand and comply with all NCAA, conference and University rules and regulations, knowledge of and experience with conditioning programs for collegiate athletic teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
-5 years experience as a strength and conditioning coach in an NCAA Division I institution preferred
-Experience coaching both men and women preferred
-Demonstrated skills in an institution/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
